Around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 17, 2007, Marty Kasteler and his wife Nicki Kasteler were heading home on their bicycles from a friends house. While riding home a delivery van started to run them off the road. Marty slapped on the side of the delivery van to alert the driver that there were cyclists on the street. Instead of yielding, the delivery truck driver turned around and deliberately ran Marty down. The van jumped the curb at a church parking lot, went over the sidewalk and through a guard rail. The driver then fled, leaving Marty for dead. Fortunately his wife was with him and able to call for help, at which point he was rushed to the emergency room in critical condition.

Police Looking for Driver and Vehicle Involved in Attempted Homicide/Hit and Run
Shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 17, 2007, a bicyclist was deliberately run over by a driver of a van. The van and driver have not been located. The victim is currently in critical condition.
The van involved in the crime is described a white, cab-over delivery van. The victim identified it as looking very similar to the attached picture. The van will have front-end damage, and the passenger side mirror was broken during the incident.
There is no reason for police to believe that the van is leaking a significant amount of fluid.
If anyone has any information pertaining to the location of the van, or the identity and whereabouts of the driver, they are asked to call the Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-INFO. There is a cash reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this crime. Callers may remain anonymous.
